On October 20th in 1827, Navarino Bay witnessed a decisive naval confrontation that shaped history. Allied forces, comprising of Britain, France, Russia and Greek fighters, clashed with the Ottoman-Egyptian fleet. The victory for the allies delivered a severe blow to Ottoman supremacy and propelled Greece toward its independence, leading to its recognition as a modern sovereign state.
